Oral Surgery
Oral Surgery is a broad term used to describe a procedure performed in and around your mouth. These procedures can include everything from tooth removals or extractions, root canals, repositioning the jaw, removal of a tumor or oral cancer, impacted wisdom teeth, and so much more. Most traditional dentists refer these types of procedures out to a dental practice that is better equipped and has the experience to handle such procedures. At the Center for Dental Rehabilitation, we have two fully accredited surgical rooms that we can provide comprehensive treatment options for our patients in fewer settings than a traditional dentist. While oral surgery can sound intimidating, it is a very common and used often to treat more complicated issues. While every case is different, many of these procedures are completed on an outpatient basis, and patients can resume work or normal activities within a few days. We work tirelessly to ensure your experience is as comfortable as possible.
Common Conditions We Treat:
Impacted Wisdom Teeth
Dental Restorations
Tooth Extractions
Lesion Removal and Biopsies
Infection
Dental Bridges
are non-removable (or fixed) dental appliance attached to your existing (natural) teeth that serves to replace a missing tooth or series of teeth. Designed to last more than a decade, a dental bridge can help restore your smile to its natural beauty.
In addition to the cosmetic benefits, a dental bridge can enhance the ability to eat and chew properly; restore the ability to speak properly; relieve pressure that is put on your bite from missing teeth; and prevent your natural teeth from shifting. Depending on your needs, we may recommend a dental crown or an implant to anchor the bridge.
Dental Bonding
is used to reduce gaps between two teeth, to improve the appearance of teeth that are chipped or discolored, or to cover certain types of fillings. Dental bonding is a quick way to improve the appearance of your smile. Unlike porcelain veneers, which are created in our laboratory, dental bonding is achieved by painting a liquid resin directly onto the surface of the teeth. Dr. Toal then contours and polishes the resin so the tooth resembles those around it.
Because dental bonding can be completed in a single office visit, many of our patients choose to combine this treatment with other dental procedures that require sedation. Wake up with a brand new smile!
Root Canal
are needed when a tooth’s dental pulp, which is the soft layer inside the tooth, becomes infected, you may experience a great deal of pain. Sometimes, the way to alleviate this pain (and clear the underlying infection) is to perform a root canal. Other signs that you may need a root canal include discoloration of the tooth, swollen or tender gums, a persistent pimple on the gum near the painful tooth, or extreme sensitivity to hot or cold.
Thanks to improved technology and the availability of sedation dentistry, root canal therapy at the Center for Dental Rehabilitation can be completely painless. After you are sufficiently anesthetized, Dr. Toal will create an opening in the crown (top) of your tooth. Through this opening, she will remove the diseased pulp, thoroughly clean the area, and fill the canal with a sealant material. This procedure eliminates all pain associated with the infection.
